Projects

The project file (.mtrp) keeps ROM data, map definitions, edit history and metadata in a single file. You never have to carry the ROM around separately while working.

Creating a project

  1. Go to Project ▸ New Project.
  2. Pick the ROM file (.bin, .rom, .ori, .mpc, .hex, .s19 …).
  3. The application tries to fill in the ECU type and software number; Brand, Model, Engine and ECU Type are yours to complete.
  4. Save with Project ▸ Save or Ctrl+S.

Where is it stored?

Save the project wherever you like. The application keeps a recent-projects list in the settings; the file itself is portable.

Version snapshots

Project ▸ Version Snapshot stores the complete state at that moment under a name you choose. Snapshots are:

  • return points (you go back to a chosen version, not to the original),
  • comparable with each other,
  • created automatically by the AI assistant before it applies a change.

Compare two versions with Window ▸ Compare Versions, and two raw ROM files with Project ▸ Compare ROMs.

Linked ROMs

If you work with several software versions of the same ECU family, add a reference image with Project ▸ Link ROM to Project:

  • maps in the linked ROM are matched automatically,
  • matching maps open side by side,
  • cursor synchronisation is enabled, so both versions line up row by row.

Auto save

Miscellaneous ▸ Auto Save writes your edits after a configurable idle time. Auto save writes to temporary files, so a crash does not cost you work.

Comparing projects

  • Two projects: Window ▸ Compare Projects opens two project windows side by side.
  • Two versions: Window ▸ Compare Versions compares two snapshots of the same project.
  • Differences panel: lists the differences of the selected map.

Comparisons enable synchronised cursors by default; switch them off with Selection ▸ Synchronise Cursors.

Project info

Miscellaneous ▸ Project Info shows brand, model, engine, ECU type, hardware and software numbers, engine code and notes. These fields are filled from A2L and OLS imports and are exposed as project properties.

Export

Purpose Output
Shareable project .mtrp (default)
Raw ROM .bin, .rom
WinOLS project .ols
TunerPro definition .xdf
Map list .csv, .json
Tuning report .html

Pick the format from Project ▸ Export. Raw ROM export preserves the original size and byte order; it is only needed when you changed maps.
